Here is my chat log from April 6, 2011 with Spike. It is copy and pasted directly from Skype. I can screen shot if need be, but there’s only one piece that I blacked out because it has nothing to do with the actual message of the conversation. Note that my log makes little sense without the logs of several other people who were privy to far more detailed information regarding the scientific content of IVAQS, but because I had the least amount of information, it took me the shortest amount of time to find it and get it out to you all. I felt it was important to put this out there so that people can understand the overwhelming wave of evidence that is to follow.

 

The content in this log refers to 2 main topics. First, there was a thread on Vaper’s Forum that called for information regarding IVAQS following Philly Vapefest because no formal announcement/update was made there regarding the study, as promised. JK Bonin was active in calling Spike out in the thread, and at some point, I agreed with one of his statements, which is what I believe prompted the initial message. The second issue was that in the thread on Vaper’s Forum, Spike announced that anyone could view the videos from the NVC board meetings to know what went on there. I emailed her for the information, and when it was sent over, there was one meeting (the one that was widely reported to discuss both IVAQS and Cisco being banned from future events) that was missing.

On April 6, 2011, Cisco made the following post on Vapers Forum (VF) alluding to Spike opening her own e-cigarette company:

While NVC solicited donations from vendors for IVAQS early on, it was always with the understanding that, as a consumer-based organization, NVC was acting as the “watchdog,” if you will. In other words, the thought was that vendor funding wouldn’t taint the study, because vendors were only contributing funds and wouldn’t have any input into the study itself.

 

The integrity of IVAQS was immediately called into question when Spike became a vendor, especially given that NVC appears to be without a functional board. That is, if the results of IVAQS are favorable, it is good for Spike’s business. Moreover, as a vendor, Spike has access to IVAQS data that her competitors do not have, giving her a competitive advantage.

 

In case there’s any doubt about whether Spike is using IVAQS data for her personal business, on August 25, 2010, she testified before the FDA and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services ”Scientific Evaluation of Modified Risk Tobacco Product Applications.”

 

This is what she said about IVAQS and her e-cigarette business:

”For full disclosure, I started an ecommerce business selling e-cigarettes about two weeks ago. I wanted to wait until we had data back from our project to make sure that I wasn’t selling anything that was really bad. Nobody wants to have that guilt. ”
